Music Monday : Eras Preview

by | Sep 22, 2025 | mythoughts | 0 comments

As I’ve established, I am extremely diverse in terms of music that I listen to. My shuffle can talk me anywhere from Charlie Daniels to Metallica, Gospel to Eminem, or Beethoven to Lady Gaga. Music speak to my soul in many different ways.

I’m often asked how I came to being interested in the vast array of genres that I listen to. A couple years ago when I wrote a blog about music, a friend suggested I write about how each genre came into my life and why I like it. I thought that was a great idea but was never able to find the time.

With the current drive of writing blogs I have, and the start of me doing Music Monday, it seems like a great time as any as  to dive into how my love of music has evolved over the years and break down the impact the major genres I listen to the most have come to be.

Since Taylor Swift has made the word “Eras” a buzzword in current culture I thought I would break down how the music has influenced me over the years and different eras of my own life. I will not be doing them every week, but will start springing them in over my Music Monday posts.

Rap/Hip-Hop, Country, Rock, and Pop are the current genres I have planned as they play the biggest roles in my love of music and my personality. I’ll cover where it started, when it was the most influential, and when What I am listening to now.

I also always open to suggestions for new artists or genre fusion mash ups. SO feel free to hit me up and let me know about the music you all like. Next week we will start with the easy one, Country. It’s also the most divisive amongst popular music in todays world.

I’m looking forward to writing these as it’ll help me spend some time diving into the music I love and reintroducing myself into some of my old favorites!
