75 Hard: Week 5 – Challening Myself

Today is officially Day 36 of 75 Hard and week 5 is behind me.

In total, this last week was fairly mundane in terms of getting my goals completed. I did have two moments I’d like to discuss though as there both personal wins for myself in my drive to complete 75 hard.

Last Night Completion

Friday of last week, my friend Sam and I drove 3 hours (I say it as if I partook in the driving, but I was a total Passenger Princess) to Springfield, MO. Stayed for a couple hours to support one of our best friends in a time of need, and then drove back home. On the way there I finished my water, and the only thing i had left to do was 1 last workout, which I did at 10:30 that night, and completed in the 11 PM hour. I proceeded to get up at 4 AM and walk again. I was determined to get the workout in before midnight and I did. I then proceeded to get up at 4 AM on Saturday and start my day off with a walk!

Supporting and Challenging Each other.

I made a post about this on Facebook this past Sunday but I want to talk a little more about my friend Jessica, whom challenged me to do 75 Hard. Jessica had failed 12 times to complete 75 hard before completing to n her 13th, this past August. The furthest she had gotten was 33 Days. When she started her 13th attempt, I made sure to blow her phone up daily to remind her she could in fact complete this challenge. I’d send her words of encouragement as well as positive affirmations. I held her ass to the fire and pushed her as much as I could being half the country away from each other. But she did it! And then she challenged me to do her next round along side her! And I said yes!

While I have continued my same role as before, she has taken the role herself with pushing me to finish daily. We have multiple checkins throughout the day and let eachother know when we’ve finished for the day. Well last week she finished a day with 18k steps. I asked her why she just didn’t get the last 2k steps? And she had no answer other than saying she’d tried to get a full 20k at some point over the weekend. As she normally does with most challenges she faces, she destroyed that goal by continuing to hit 20k for three days in a row!

Well I woke up Sunday morning extremely driven by the fact that, at my suggestion, she decided to push herself to achieve that goal, and she did it in spectacular fashion. SO it was only fair, that I returned the favor, and on Sunday I put in the time and did 20k steps myself. It wasn’t easy, but I did it. And on one of the hottest damn days here in the Midwest.

The weekend challenges helped set me up for an easy week with 75 Hard, because my mindset was easier to rationalize as I wasn’t up until midnight on any day, and I wasn’t trying to walk 9 miles again.

It’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed from 75 Hard, pushing myself physically and mentally and challenging myself to be a better person. I’m ready for week 6! Next week I will have post about having officially made half way through this, and what my mindset it for when it’s done!
